DR: XIX International Research Congress Continues

The congress, which this year is being held under the theme “Innovation and Sustainability: Challenges and Opportunities for the Future,” is an opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and the creation of networks between scientists from different areas of the world.

On Wednesday, the XIX International Congress of Scientific Research continued in the Dominican Republic with the attendance of some 1,300 delegates from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Spain, the United States and Mexico, among other countries.

In his inaugural speech the day before, the Dominican Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Franklin García, highlighted the importance of innovation and scientific collaboration, and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the advancement of science and technology as fundamental drivers of national development.

“Science and higher education are essential pillars for the construction of a more just, equitable and prosperous society,” said García.

The congress, which this year is being held under the theme “Innovation and Sustainability: Challenges and Opportunities for the Future,” is an opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and the creation of networks between scientists from different areas of the world.

During his speech, García highlighted the increase in investments made by the Ministry he heads in research and development, as well as the implementation of new policies to promote collaboration between universities and the productive sectors.

He said that the Dominican Republic seeks to transform higher education and science into tools that promote social and economic progress.

In this regard, he pondered the importance that the Ministry attaches to constant innovation and to preparing the conditions for local researchers to have the opportunities and resources necessary to carry out high-impact projects.

In addition, the official emphasized the need to nurture young talent and support new researchers.

“It is crucial that we inspire and support the new generations of scientists. They are the future and have the potential to make great contributions to our society and the world at large,” he said.

The event, which will be held over several days, will include keynote lectures, round tables and working sessions, in which topics such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, environmental sustainability and new technologies in education will be discussed.

The sessions of the XIX International Congress of Scientific Research will be held from Wednesday at the facilities of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) and the University of the Caribbean (Unicaribe).
